Machine design is generally performed by many designers and engineers. They decide geometric shapes and design parameters of parts from different points of views. Product designers stand on how to realize the required functions, and process planners stand on the machinability of parts. This paper deals with the communication between product designers and process planners by adding the designers’ intention to the product model with use of functional features. Machining feature are extracted from the product model with functional features by using a new method called feature loops. Some machining conditions are aolso generated in the expert system where the designers’ intention is referred to realize the require functions. A case study is introduced to show the effectiveness of the proposal to integrate the product designers’ viewpoint and planners’ viewpoint.

This paper describes the background in which the working stress in the traditional print-motif cutting, so called Katatagami, and VDT works in a bank office. There existed postural problems that should be optimized according to reduce stresses.
The result of this study, problems concerning (1) sitting postures and their discomfort problems in work tasks occurred during the traditional Katagami cutting and the VDT work tasks, and (2) strategies of their reducing stresses extracted from the factors considering the necessity of the reducing discomfort postures in sitting and visual tasks, are referred. To solve above problems, by using analysis of working posture, gaze movements, EMG and eye mark camera measuring methods, toward optimize working stress are described in this paper.

Nursing care is one of the occupations which deteriorate low back pains. To analyze the cause of the pain, we performed a questionnaire survey. As the result, the pain occurred when tall nurses help patients sitting from standing position, and short nurses help them standing from sitting position. The opinions against introducing a helping machine in this field was only 3%.
